Tab Audio Recorder is a browser extension that records audio from the currently selected browser tab and saves the recording as a local WebM/Opus file.

Summary

Tab Audio Recorder does not collect, upload, sell, share, or transmit personal information. Recordings are processed locally in the browser and are only saved when the user chooses to export them.

Data Collection

Tab Audio Recorder does not collect personal data. The extension does not collect, store, or transmit names, contact information, browsing history, web page contents, search history, location data, authentication data, payment information, microphone audio, system-wide audio, analytics identifiers, or advertising identifiers.

Audio Recording

When the user starts recording, the extension captures audio from the currently selected browser tab using Chrome extension APIs. The recording is kept locally in browser memory until the user exports or discards it.

The extension does not upload recordings to any server. The extension does not send recordings to the developer or to any third party. The user remains responsible for how they use, store, or share exported recording files.

Tab Information

The extension may read the active tab title and URL only to identify the tab being recorded, show recording status, create a local filename, and detect tab audio state. This tab information is not transmitted outside the user's browser.

Local Storage

The extension uses Chrome storage APIs only to save local extension state and user preferences, such as whether automatic pause behavior is enabled. This information remains in the user's browser.

Network Requests and Third Parties

Tab Audio Recorder does not make external network requests. It does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, tracking scripts, or remote code.

Permissions

The extension requests permissions only to provide its recording and export features: tabCapture, offscreen, downloads, activeTab, tabs, notifications, and storage.
